IL LOCALE
Il Clash City Rockers Cafè non è soltanto un bar con rivendita di tabacchi, ma è un locale storico alle porte di Milano che presenta una peculiarità ben definita: la passione per la musica, in particolare per quella dei Clash o “the only band that matters” come viene solitamente chiamato il gruppo dai fans.
Ci sono esposti quasi 1500 pezzi raccolti in giro per il mondo in oltre 30 anni, divisi in 4 sale, ognuna delle quali dedicata ad un componente della band. Ogni sala è stata pensata per fornire al cliente un itinerario ben definito a livello cronologico dagli inizi fino alle carriere soliste.
Il Clash City Rockers Cafè è provvisto di un giardino, lo Strummer’s Garden, con tavolini e sedie che offre spazio per dj set, concerti, mostre fotografiche, presentazioni di libri, ecc. Nel giardino si possono osservare due colonne dell’antico cancello dal quale transitavano le carrozze ed un nuovo murales dedicato a Joe Strummer, opera dell’artista Laura Montrasio di arteriografiainrapsodia.
Una Curiosità
L’antico nome del Clash City Rockers Cafè era Leon d’oro, in pratica l’equivalente londinese del Golden Lion, il pub nel quale il futuro manager dei Clash Bernie Rhodes si recò il 26 maggio 1976 per dare a Joe Strummer l’ultimatum: 48 ore per decidere se entrare nei Clash oppure no!
